Rapunzel is back!

I have not fallen off of a cliff, gotten lost in a forest, or had anything too terribly bad happen to me, all though I have been MIA in the blog world.

But look what I've done!

I've became a cupcake chief!  These are chocolate cake, with cream cheese frosting, a red sugar heart (which I made my self with a little Pintrest inspiration), and a raspberry Hershey's kiss inside. This little project was for a neighbor's wedding, so aside from being extremely fun, I got paid to make these. I would consider it the best way to make money in the world...cash for creativity!

Cream Cheese Frosting:

Ingredients:

-1 cup butter softened
-16 ounces cream cheese softened
-8 cups sifted confectioners sugar (about 2 lbs)
- 2 T Milk (I would start out with one and add the other if needed. It works better for cupcakes if it thick)
- 1 T orange juice (I just use a little concentrate out of my freezer, sometimes I add a little vanilla instead)
- 1 t orange zest…I never actually do this part:)

Makes about 5 ½ cups icing. Good for 24ish cupcakes

Instructions

In a medium mixer bowel, cream butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Add sugar one cup at a time and milk. Mix well. Beat on high until smooth 9only 30 secs to a minute). Thin to ice cake smoother; use full strength for piping borders.

NOTE: DO NOT use LIGHT cream cheese or butter substitute. If margarine is used, icing will be softer.

Sugar Hearts

This weekend's project is Lemonade Cupcakes with Raspberry icing! I'm extremely excited...this recipe screams summer!

Tea Party

Today Briar Rose and her Little Friend came over to have tea (aka pink lemonade and sprite) with Pascal and me. It turned out to be quite a fun morning. We all wore our best fairy tale finery, and I even dusted off the china

Oh did I have fun planning or what?

Menu

-Pink Lemonade and Sprite
-Strawberry tarts (fruit dip and strawberries in a tart shell)
-Orange Jello Salad in flower pots
-Banana Bread
-Blueberry Muffins (provided by Briar)
-Grapes (our attempt to be healthy)

Our decorations were a cute banner that said "Ladies" and a garland of fabric and ribbon. We also had dried roses in mason jars, which I think really add a vintage touch.

We also made Tangled inspired crowns from this template.

Cream Cheese Heaven

Those beautiful bakery cupcakes always looks so intimidating...How does one swirl the frosting and get it to look THAT good?

Plus, the bakery frosting never is good enough to want to eat an inch of it.

Well, believe it or not the first picture on this page is a picture of bakery cup cakes.

This one,

is a picture of cupcakes I made.

And the frosting really is good enough to eat an inch.
You might even want  more than that :)

Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients:

-1Cup butter (softened)
-2 8oz. packages of cream cheese, softened
-8 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
-2 T. Milk
-1 T. orange juice
-1 t. orange zest

Instructions:

In a medium mixer bowl, cream butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Add sugar one cup at a time and milk. Mix well. Beat in high until smooth (only 30 seconds to 1 minute). Thin to cake smooth; use full strength for piping borders.

Enjoy!

Owl Post

In Harry Potter, all mail is delivered by owls. Although you might not be able to do that with real owls, here is a card that will fulfill that purpose!

Supplies

-At least three different corresponding pieces of fabric
-A glue stick
-Hot Glue
-Paint brush
-Two buttons
-Card Stock

Instructions

1. Take a card sized piece of card stock, fold it, and cut it into an owl shape, make sure you don't loose your fold.

2. Cover your card with a piece of fabric, glue it on, and trim the edges, so the fabric is the same size and shape as the card.

3. Cut out two small circles out for the eyes, it is best to cut them out at the same time, so they are the same size.

4. Cut a larger circle out for the belly. Cut a small triage out of this fabric as well, this will be the beak.

5. Glue these pieces on the owl.

6. Then hot glue on buttons for eyes.

Feathered Friends

Here is a fun craft that will put a use to all those fabric scraps that don't seem to serve any real purpose except for cluttering up you craft room.

This cute owl can be use as gift bag, or as decoration.

Supplies
-Paper lunch bag
-At least three different corresponding pieces of fabric
-A glue stick
-Hot Glue
-Modge Podge
-Paint brush
-Two buttons

Instructions

1. Cut the top of your paper bag to look like ears. An easy way to do that is fold it in half length wise, and cut a quarter of a circle in the top.

2. Take a rectangle of fabric that is the same width of you bag, and same height, measuring from tip of ears to bottom of bag, and glue it on. (do this over the side of the bag with the seam)

3. Turn the bag over backwards, and trim the fabric so it is the same size and shape of the bag.

4. Cut out two small circles out for the eyes, it is best to cut them out at the same time, so they are the same size.

5. Cut a larger circle out for the belly. Cut a small triage out of this fabric as well, this will be the beak.

6. Glue these pieces on the owl.

7. Use a brush to Modge Podge your bag so the the fabric won't come un-glued.

8. Once the bag is dry, hot glue on buttons for eyes.

Once it is done, you can stuff tissue paper in the bag, so that it looks fuller, and cutter.

Have fun!!!!
