Breakfast Cookies

I found this really awesome recipe via Beth Ann of Genuine Beauty, which originally comes from the blog Blueberry Girl.

I loved it!

Below I have included a copy of the recipe, along with my edits. Hope you enjoy!

No Sugar (well almost none) Oat Drops

1 1/2 cups regular rolled oats
1 cup coconut flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/4 cup of almond meal
1/2 cup mixed nuts,finely chopped(
I didn’t put these in)
1 cup dried fruit(
I used white chocolate chips and craisins. Raisins and chocolate would be good too. I didn’t do exact measurements, about  ¾ fruit to chocolate ratio is goodJ)

3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/4 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, almond meal, mixed nuts and coconut flakes. Stir in allspice and cinnamon. Add dried fruit and stir until well and evenly mixed. Make sure the dried fruit do not stick together in big batches.
In another bowl, combine canola oil, mashed banana and vanilla extract. Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients and stir until well combined.

Take a large cookie cutter and press spoonfuls of the batter into it. Remove cookie cutter. (
I just used a large cookie dough scoop. They don’t expand. The size it is before you bake it is what you get.)  Bake for about 20 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

I wrapped mine in wax paper and froze them flat in a freezer bag. Warm for 30-40 seconds and instant breakfast!

Yield- About 17

Made my day:)

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
-Acts 10:36

This is how it appears EXACTLY in your Bible.

Don't believe me...well look it up :)

So today...

I tried this hair do...

I'm in love!

I slept in french braids to get the waves, and then in the morning i styled my hair like that.

Okay, so it didn't turn out perfect... but it was REALLY cute, and super fun. I'd defiantly recommend trying it.

Fish Tale!

I love this braid!

So so much easier than it looks, and useful too.

Personally, I think its fun paired with feather earnings, or a plaid shirt, but any way you do it it is LOADS of fun!

I'd recommend tying your hair off in a pony tale on your first time a round, then braiding it. Try to keep your chunks of hair pretty even. Spry it with a little bit of water if you're having a lot of trouble.

iLike...

Glitter!

On everything, and anything.

iLike it sooo much, the dust in my tower is glittery.

Want some ideas for using it?

1. Eye Shadow

I know you can buy sparkly eye shadow, but it works so much better to just use really fine body glitter. I got mine at Clarie's and I just dust it on my eyelids with my fingers. If you don't put on any eye shadow with the glitter, the glitter will stick better.

2. With Modge Podge

When you put on a modge podge finish, you can sprinkle a tiny bit of glitter in for a special flare.

3. Homemade Glitter Toes

Paint  your toes with clear coat, sprinkle on glitter, let dry, brush acces glitter off. Repeat untill to your liking, then put a few coats on so that it is a smooth final product.

Orange Julius

In honor of lazy Saturday mornings here is a treat has long time been one of my favorites.

I useulally don't use a recipe, but here is a good one from the Blendtec cook book.

2/3 cup milk
2/3 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
6 oz frozen orange juice concentrate
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups ice

Now, if you have a Blendtec, put them in the blender in the order they are listed. If you don't, put them in in the opposite order.  Blend until smooth.

Also, if you have a Blendtec, I  recommend peeling a fresh orange and adding that in. The Blendtec will completely pulverize it, so you don't end up with strings and pulp. Unfortunately a regular blender will not.

Enjoy!

French Braid Tips

Personally, I think it is the most useful hair technique I know.

Here is a link if you don't already know how. If you do, here are my tips to improve your do.

1. If you are going to do two braids on either side of your head, part you hair into two pig tales. Tie the opposite side off , and start braiding the loose side. This way your part stays nice.

2. I like to French braid my hair when its wet. Sometimes I even run moose through. Both these things better the results.

3. Grab even pieces as you go. This makes it tighter.

4. If you want to sleep with them in to make your hair wavy, try the inside out french braid. Put curlers on the ends of you braids, this way all your hair looks wavy.

Pay it Forward Hat

For Christmas I've got a hat loom!

I have had soooo much fun.

Its addicting.

Because I don't need fifty hats, I have a plan.

I've been making them to donate to a Chemo therapy clinic.

I guess their my pay it forward hats.

I definitely would recommend trying it out.

If you want to make a flower, you can make it on the small loom for premies, you just need to do between 6 to 10 rows, depending on how frilly you want the flower. Bind it off like you do the hat, and add a button!

Th band is simple too, I'll put the link in here.

Have fun!!!

New Years Fun

I got a new camera.

Now I can do this.

If you notice in the background, there is my "Happy New Year" banner.

So, I know you can't read the banner, but it says "Happy New Year", each pennant has been stamped with ink  the same color as the paper, to create soft background pattern. Then I put an ivory circle on top of the pennant, which I stamped a brown letter on and sponged with brown ink.

I made the pennants out of an 8 1/2'' by 11'' piece of paper, which I cut into fourths. Then I made a mark on  the paper width wise, at the half way mark (2 1/8''). To cut the triangle, cut on the diagonal line from this center mark, to the upper corner.

It was simple, it was fun... and addicting. This is one of three banners I've made.

Happy New Years Eve!!!!!!

Warm and Cozy

yesterday was cleaning day...

Taking down the tree?

It was much more fun to put it up.

Just saying:)

But on the bright side, I learned how to do this-

I know it doesn't look like much, but it smelled really good.

This is how you do it-

Take a small sauce pan, put in 1 cinnamon stick, a few cloves, three or four basil leaves, and some orange peels. Cover with water, and let simmer on you back burner at a low heat, watch to make sure your water doesn't completely evaporate.
